2005/2006 YEAR NEWS
 
Congratulations to Colleen O'Connor for recently completing the Online Youth Protection course!
 
Congratulations to Colleen O'Connor for volunteering to be Pack 4's Chartered Organization Representative!  Many thanks to Holly Mellstrom for serving in that role for the past 2 years.
For 2005-2006:
Steve Hall and Darren Johnson completed an evening course on New Leader Essentials and Den Leader Specific training.  Congratulations, Steve and Darren!
 
Congratulations to the following new 2005-2006 Den Leaders who recently completed a 2 evening training course during October in New Scout Leader Essentials: Nancy Calvaruso, Lawrence Cooke, Pete Dipaola, Bardy Jones and Tom Spana.  Great work, leaders!
 
The following adults have signed up to become leaders in Pack 4:  Nancy Calvaruso, Lawrence Cooke, Pete Dipaola, Steve Hall, Bardy Jones, Darren Johnson and Tom Spana.  We welcome the new leaders and wish them every success in the program!
 
With the beginning of the 2005 summer program, Mike Gutch has volunteered to become the new Assistant Cubmaster, working with Tom Morrissey, who remains as Cubmaster for the upcoming year.  Mike succeeds Lucien Cardinal, who retains his Webelos Den Leadership.  Thanks to Lucien and best wishes to Mike in his new role!
 
On Monday, June 6th 2005, Pack 4 leaders Tom Morrissey and John Felicetti received the Cub Scouter award at the Algonquin District monthly Roundtable.  The award, a "braid" patch which is worn on the uniform, signifies accomplishments in the areas of Pack Program Planning, National Quality Award, Pack Service Projects and Pack Membership.  Congratulations to Tom and John!
 
On January 29th, 2005 Tom Morrissey and John Felicetti attended the first ever Westchester-Putnam University of Scouting along with dozens of fellow Scouters from our local Council as well as outside Councils.  Tom and John attended such courses as Cub Scout Cookery, Cub Scout Games, Skits and Stuff, Ceremonies, Attracting Cubs and Parents, Character Connections and Cub Outdoor Adventure.
 
Joakim Harlin and Richard Pine are the latest Den leaders to complete the "New Leader Essentials" training course on December 20, 2004.   Thank you to Joakim and Richard for becoming the newest adult leaders of Pack 4 to receive training!
 
Congratulations to Mike Gutch and Laird Tolan for completing the "New Leader Essentials" training course.  The NLE is a 2 session workshop and it involves presentation of District and Pack materials combined with discussions of "real world" situations and brainstorming of ideas to ensure a quality den program.  Thank you to Mike and Laird for becoming trained!
 
Pack 4 is pleased to announce the following positions for the 2004 - 2005 program year: Holly Mellstrom, Chartered Organization Representative; Lucien Cardinal, Assistant Cubmaster.
 
On March 6th, 2004, Tom Morrissey and John Felicetti attended the Hudson Valley University of Scouting along with over 425 fellow Scouters from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.  Tom and John both earned their Bachelor Degree in Scouting from the University by attending such courses as Games, Ceremonies That Create Memories, Recruiting and Utilizing Unit Leaders, Derbies Without Cars, The New Webelos Program and Introduction to Boy Scout Camping.
 
Pack 4 welcomes its latest Den Leader - Michael Hade.  Michael will be leading Den 2, our newest Wolf den.  Congratulations to Michael!
 
Pack 4 welcomes its scout leaders: Tom Baffuto - Tiger Co-Leader, and Holly Mellstrom - Tiger Co-Leader.  Welcome Tom and Holly!
 
On September 5th, Tony Camardella completed the BSA Online Youth Protection Training Course.  Tony joins Laura Woods, Tom Morrissey and John Felicetti as youth protection trained members of the Pack Committee.  Congratulations, Tony!
 
Pack 4 welcomes Cerisse Anderson Bennett and Glenn Koniuk to the Pack Committee.  Cerisse will be assisting Laura Woods in Den 5, and Glenn will be our newest Webelos Den Leader.  Welcome, Cerisse and Glenn!
 
On August 9, Laura Woods completed the BSA Online Youth Protection Training Course.  Laura joins Tom Morrissey and John Felicetti as youth protection trained members of the Pack Committee.  Congratulations, Laura!
 
Pack 4 welcomes its two newest Committee members, John Settineri and Joe Ferrara.  John and Joe both have boys in Pack 4, and we look forward to their participation during the coming program year.  Thanks for volunteering to serve, John and Joe!
 
Laura Woods and John Felicetti were recent recipients of the Algonquin District Commissioner Award of Excellence.  John received both his and Laura's award at the annual District Recognition Dinner on June 20th (Laura was attending son James' graduation celebration and was unable to attend the dinner).  The award cited both Laura and John's untiring assistance to Pack 4, and was signed by outgoing District Commissioner Bill Lichti.  Well done, Laura and John!
 
During the Pack meeting on June 12th, Tony Camardella recognized the efforts of outgoing committee members Patrice Fitzpatrick and Glenn Whitmore for their tireless service to the Committee and to Pack 4.  Well done, Patrice and Glenn!  Patrice was presented with a plaque commemorating her contributions; Glenn was unavailable to attend the meeting and will presented with his plaque at a later time.
 
Also during the meeting, outgoing Cubmaster Tom Morrissey was recognized for his efforts and dedication during the past program year.  Tom was presented with a plaque commemorating his tenure as Cubmaster.  Thank you, Tom!  John Felicetti will assume Cubmaster duties for the upcoming program year; Tom will serve as Assistant Cubmaster.
 
On May 15th and 22nd, Tony Camardella attended the Basic Scout Leader training course in Somers, NY. The first evening focused on a general orientation useful for all adult leaders, regardless of function.  In the second evening's course, Tony received training specific to his role as Pack Committee Chairperson.  Thanks to Tony for making the commitment to training...all scouts deserve trained leaders!
 
On May 12th, John Felicetti attended the Westchester-Putnam Council annual Recognition Dinner.  During the dinner, which honors Scouters with the highest Council level individual award - The Silver Beaver Award - the Siwanoy PTA was commended for its 55 years of continuous sponsorship for Pack 4.
 
On April 29th, Tom Morrissey and John Felicetti attended a Council-sponsored Unit Program Planning training session at the Scout Service Center in Hawthorne.  The following topics were covered at the session: Planning and Building a Year-round Program, Budgeting, and Communicating with Parents.  Tom and John also received information and planning tools regarding the upcoming fall Popcorn sale.  Details to follow in our next Committee meetings!
 
On March 1st, Tom Morrissey and John Felicetti attended the Hudson Valley University of Scouting along with over 400 fellow Scouters from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.  Tom and John both earned their Associate Degree in Scouting from the University by attending such courses as Pack Administration, Unit Resources, Ceremonies, Showmanship, Safety Afloat, Quality Unit Award and Adult Training Awards and Special Recognition.
